Process a Sales Return in GPOS
This tutorial will guide you step-by-step on how to create and save a sales return in GPOS.
🛠️ Why You Might Need to Process a Sales Return
Customer wants to return purchased items
Wrong or defective product delivered

📋 Steps to Process a Sales Return in GPOS
✅ Step 1: Go to the Sales Return Screen
Log in to your GPOS dashboard.
Navigate to the “Sales Return” module from the side menu.
Open the Sales Return form.
✅ Step 2: Enter Customer Details
Select the customer from the Customers dropdown.
You will see the customer’s Closing Balance displayed.
✅ Step 3: Select the Original Sales Invoice
Search the original Sales Invoice ID related to the return.
Choose the correct Warehouse from which the product was sold.
✅ Step 4: Set Return Date and Sales Ledger
Set the Return Date (default is today’s date).
Select the appropriate Sales Ledger for accounting.
✅ Step 5: Voucher Number and Price Group
Voucher No will auto-generate (e.g., SR-2508-0001).
Choose Price Group if applicable (default is selling price).
✅ Step 6: Add Products to Return
Search product by Name or Code.
Enter the Return Quantity (should be less than or equal to the sold quantity).
Unit price, discount, tax, expiry date, and subtotal will display automatically.
✅ Step 7: Review Return Summary
Check Total Item, Total Quantity, and Net Total Amount.
Apply Return Discount if any (fixed or percentage).
Select Return Tax if applicable.
Add any Return Note for reference.
✅ Step 8: Payment Details
Enter the Paying Amount if refunding the customer now.
Select Payment Method (Cash, Card, etc.).
If credit adjustment is needed, select Credit A/c.
Add Payment Note if required.
Check the Current Balance after return processing.
✅ Step 9: Save the Sales Return
Review all details carefully.
Click Save to complete the sales return process.
Inventory and accounting records will update accordingly.

Returns must reference an original sales invoice.
