How to Add an Account Group in GPOS

This tutorial will guide you through the process of creating a new Account Group in the Accounting Module of GPOS.

  • To separate accounts like Assets, Liabilities, Income, and Expenses

📋 Steps to Add an Account Group in GPOS

✅ Step 1: Go to the Accounting Module

  1. Log in to your GPOS dashboard.

  2. From the side menu, navigate to the “Accounting” module.

  3. Select “Account Groups” from the list.

✅ Step 2: Click on “Add Account Group”

  1. On the Account Groups page, click the “Add” button.

  2. A new form will open where you can define your account group.

✅ Step 3: Fill in Account Group Details

  • Name* → Enter the name of the new account group (Example: Bank Accounts, Expenses, Loans).

  • Under Group* → Select the parent group under which this account group will be categorized (e.g., Assets, Liabilities, Income, Expenses).

  • Is Default Tax Calculator → Select Yes/No (Usually set to No unless this group is related to tax calculation).

  • Are the Allowed Bank Details → Select Yes/No (Choose Yes if the group will store bank-related information).

✅ Step 4: Save the Account Group

  1. After entering all details, click on the “Save” button.

  2. The new account group will be added and visible in your list of groups.


🔐 Important Notes

  • Only authorized users can create or modify account groups.

  • Once created, account groups can be used while adding ledgers or managing accounts.

  • Default groups provided by GPOS should not be deleted or modified unless necessary.


🎯 Tips

  • Use clear and standard names for account groups (e.g., “Cash in Hand”, “Direct Expenses”).

  • Always select the correct Under Group to maintain proper accounting hierarchy.

  • Plan your chart of accounts in advance for smooth financial reporting.
