How to Edit a Product in GPOS

This tutorial will guide you through the step-by-step process of editing an existing product in GPOS to update its details such as name, code, pricing, stock information, or category.


🛠️ Why You Might Need to Edit a Product

  • To correct a product name or code

  • To update the selling price or cost

  • To change stock details or warranty information

  • To add product variants or barcode information

  • To update product description, images, or tax settings


📋 Steps to Edit a Product in GPOS

✅ Step 1: Go to the Product List

  1. Log in to your GPOS dashboard.

  2. From the side menu, navigate to the “Products” module.

  3. Click on “Product List” to view all available products.

✅ Step 2: Search and Select the Product

  1. Use the search bar to find the product you want to edit.

  2. Search by product name, code, barcode, or category.

  3. Click on the product to open its details page.

✅ Step 3: Edit Basic Product Information

  • Product Name → Update the display name for the product.

  • Product Code → Change or assign a product code for internal reference.

  • Unit → Set or change the measurement unit (e.g., kg, pcs, box).

  • Has Multi Unit → Enable if the product is sold in multiple units.

  • Barcode Type → Select the barcode type (e.g., Code 128).

✅ Step 4: Update Classification Details

  • Category & Subcategory → Assign or change category/subcategory.

  • Brand → Select the appropriate brand name.

  • Alert Quantity → Set a low-stock alert quantity.

  • Warranty → Add or update warranty period.

✅ Step 5: Adjust Stock & Tax Settings

  • Business Access → Select which business locations can access the product.

  • Condition → Mark as New, Used, or Refurbished.

  • Stock Type → Choose Manageable Stock or Non-Stock.

  • Applicable Tax → Select the tax type (Exclusive or Inclusive).

  • Tax Applicable For → Choose Selling Price or Cost Price.

✅ Step 6: Update Pricing & Profit

  • Unit Cost (Exc. Tax) → Update the purchase cost of the product.

  • Profit Margin (%) → Set or change the profit percentage.

  • Unit Price (Exc. Tax) → Update the selling price.

✅ Step 7: Additional Product Settings

  • Has Variant? → Enable if the product has variants (e.g., size, color).

  • Weight → Add or change product weight.

  • Displayed in E-com → Enable if the product should appear in your online store.

  • Enable IMEI/SL No → Enable for products requiring serial tracking.

  • Is For Sale → Toggle if the product is available for sale.

  • Batch No / Expire Date → Enable for batch-tracked or perishable products.

✅ Step 8: Upload or Change Thumbnail Photo

  1. Drag and drop the image file or click Upload.

  2. Choose the new image for the product thumbnail.

✅ Step 9: Edit Product Description

  • Add or update the product’s description for reference and online display.

✅ Step 10: Save the Changes

  1. Review all updates for accuracy.

  2. Click Save to apply the changes.

  3. The system will update the product instantly in your inventory.


🔐 Important Notes

  • Only authorized users with product management permissions can edit product details.

  • All product edits are logged for tracking changes.
